In Google Ads, valuable actions for your company can be defined as conversions. Values can be assigned to the individual actions so that this can be included in the weighting of the optimization of your campaign(s).
You can create Google Ads conversion actions directly in your Google Ads account and integrate them on your website. See our article Conversion Tracking with Google Tag Manager .
In a Google Ads campaign in adhook, you can use the bid optimization to specify whether and how the campaign should be optimized for the conversion actions stored in the Google Ads account. To do this, proceed as follows:
Create a campaign and choose the "Google Ads" advertising network
Define a target region in the "General" step
Create at least one ad group with corresponding keywords at the "Ad groups" step
Create at least one text ad at the "Ads" step
Define a start date for the campaign at the "Runtime" step.
In the "Budget" step, you now have the option to set the bid optimization for Google Ads. To do this, click on "Bid strategy".
You can choose from the following bid strategies. When activating the campaign, your details will be stored accordingly in the Google Ads campaign.
Maximize clicks (recommended if conversion tracking is not set up)
Set the bid automatically to achieve the highest possible number of clicks within the defined budget. You can let Google set the bid automatically or set a highest bid.
Maximize conversion value (recommended if conversion tracking is set up)
Your bids are automatically optimized so that you achieve the highest possible conversion value.
Maximize conversions
Your bids are automatically adjusted so that you achieve as many conversions as possible.
Target CPA
When you enter a target CPA (cost-per-acquisition), your bids are automatically set so that you achieve as many conversions as possible. The costs of individual conversions can be above or below the target CPA.
Target ROAS
When you enter a target ROAS (Return on Advertising Spend), your bids are automatically set to achieve the highest possible conversion value within your target ROAS. The ROAS of individual conversions can be above or below the target ROAS.
Manual
You set the maximum CPC (cost-per-click) for your ads yourself.
